Antique Style Color Gemstone Rings

KUNZITE: is this real one?
My friend gave me a kunzite pendant, about 3 inch length and nearly 1 inch width. I've been looking on the Internet to find some info about it. But most of the kunzite I saw was pink/light pink in color. This is quite confusing since my kunzite is lavender in color. My friend get the purple one for coz she knows my fav color is purple.
My question here:
1) is there any difference between pink or purple kunzite? Especially when you talk about its metaphysical healing?
2) And which one is rarer and harder to find, the one with pink or purple kunzite?

The previous answer is correct as far as it goes. Yes Kunzite is a natural stone, it is a variety of spodumene which was named after George Frederick Kunz the famous mineralogist.
Kunzite is a dichroic mineral which means that it appears to have different colours when looked at along different directions of the crystal. Looking along the c-axis of kunzite gives a darker more violet colour.
Kunzite is often radiation treated these days to improve its colour by making it darker, this treatment is permanent but all colour in kunzite is not very stable and the stone can fade badly if it is left in bright sunlight or gets too hot, so take care where you leave your kunzite jewellery.
